Meet Tia, a freshman majoring in Computer Science and a WIE Ambassador!
Q&A with Tia:
Why did you become a WIE Ambassador? “Encouraging young women to explore engineering and feel confident in the field is something I’m passionate about. Growing up, I saw how impactful role models—like my sister—could be in creating a sense of support and belonging. I remember all the questions I had before college that no one seemed able to answer. As a WIE Ambassador, I can provide those answers, share my experiences, and help students feel more confident about their decision.”
What is your favorite part about being a WIE Ambassador? “My favorite part is connecting with prospective students and helping them feel excited and confident about their future. I love sharing my experiences, answering their questions, and helping them realize how much The Grainger College of Engineering has to offer.”
What advice do you have for prospective students? “Take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way—whether it’s joining a club, attending events, or asking questions. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and connect with others; you’ll find a supportive community here that wants to see you succeed.”
