WIE Mentors
Do you want to make a positive impact for new Women in Engineering students?
Apply for a volunteer leadership role for WIE Orientation and help orient new first-year and transfer students to Grainger Engineering. Volunteer leaders will play a critical role in helping new students build supportive connections with other women in the college and get connected to a robust system of people, resources, and strategies that will facilitate their path to success and wellness as an engineering student. This is also an opportunity to build new friendships and get more engaged as a student leader in the Women in Engineering community!
WIE Mentors serve in two primary roles.
- Before orientation, they co-facilitate a series of virtual group mentoring sessions with new students to build a sense of community and help students prepare before coming to campus.
- During orientation, mentors serve in-person on the leadership crew to help WIE staff facilitate orientation activities and logistics and create a welcoming and supportive environment for new students on campus.
WIE Lead Mentors serve in the WIE Mentor role as described above and have the additional responsibility of co-leading a breakout session during orientation for new students in their major. Guidance will be provided to Lead Mentors about how to facilitate these interactive sessions.
