Campus and Community Involvement

In addition to being a WIE Program Assistant, Shelby is the LinkedIn chair for Society of Women in Engineering. She is also a member of the Phi Sigma Sigma Sorority.

Being a Part of the WIE Community

As a WIE community member, Shelby has built a strong support system among peers. She shared, “I've developed stronger confidence being a woman in STEM, and WIE facilitated a lot of that for me over the years. Through my involvement, I have been able to create such amazing connections with a lot of great people within the WIE community, a really strong source of support.” Being a part of WIE means being a part of a community full of resources and support from peers with values and interests similar to your own.

Being a WIE Program Assistant

As a WIE Program Assistant, Shelby enjoys being a source of support for underclassmen. Through such a responsibility, she has developed valuable skills as a mentor and leader. Looking forward, Shelby is eager to make the most out of her last year as an undergraduate student and program assistant in our Women in Engineering program. “As a senior, it's becoming real that I'm not going to be on campus next year, so I want to take it all in and get involved in as many events as I can, because I had such great experiences planning and attending events like WIE Orientation. I want to make an impact on the things that we do, and just get the most out of WIE that I can this last semester as a program assistant,” says Shelby.
