Campus and Community Involvement
Allison is involved in several activities on campus. She has participated in undergraduate research, initially focusing on wearable plant sensors and currently working on a polymer physics project. She is part of the Society of Women Engineers and will direct the Membership Enrichment Committee this year. Allison also works closely with Grainger Administration, running the engineering campus tour guide program and giving tours for prospective and admitted students. Additionally, she organizes the Women in Engineering programming.
Being a Part of the WIE Community
Allison’s favorite aspect of the WIE community is the people. She says, “Everyone in the WIE community is so supportive, and I enjoy connecting with new students and talking about what Illinois and Grainger has to offer. Planning New Student Orientation has me super excited for our new students to arrive this August.” The friendly atmosphere in the WIE community has been a huge part of her experience at UIUC. Allison is excited to welcome new students and help them find the resources to succeed.
Being a WIE Orientation Mentor
Allison is excited about the upcoming orientation activities WIE is introducing this year, as well as the opportunity for new student connections. She says, “I'm most excited for all of the new programming WIE is offering at orientation this year, and the one-on-one interactions with new students. I'm especially excited to welcome the students in my major (i.e. the MatSEs!), and I hope that students gain long-lasting relationships with others in their majors that will help ease their transition into Grainger.”
